How PDF N-up page layout works
N-up places several pages from one PDF on an A4 output sheet. It can make an overview or compact print copy; it does not rewrite the page content. Vector content is preserved, but each page occupies less space as density increases.
Choose density for the task
Two pages per sheet leave more room for notes. Four pages often work for an overview. Six, nine or sixteen are better suited to navigation than sustained reading. Inspect text and diagrams on a sample.
A 100-page sheet-count example
| Pages per sheet | Sheets | Fewer sheets¹ |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | 50 | 50% |
| 4 | 25 | 75% |
| 6 | 17 | 83% |
| 9 | 12 | 88% |
| 16 | 7 | 93% |
¹ Compared with one page per sheet, before duplex printing. Results round up and count one copy only.
